Artist Statement:
My paintings are visual representations of ideas that flow through my mind. Having the ability to create pieces that capture my visions is why I am an artist. My creations are to be interpreted however the viewer wants — they are to make people think and feel.
My inspiration comes from everyone and everything I experience daily. I never go into creating a piece with a concrete plan, as I have discovered having a plan unintentionally sets an expectation — and if not met, I end up being unsatisfied with the outcome. I go into painting with visions and just let my ideas flow. For me, expressing feelings in the moment is what captures the magic of my paintings and creations.
My desire to begin painting was definitely inspired by multiple sources — the biggest one being artist, Cristina Martinez. Seeing her paintings allowed me to realize the ideas I had in my head, I could literally create. All I had to do was obtain the materials and mediums to do so — which led me to finding an old canvas and paint in my parents basement. In 2017 my first painting ‘4am’ was born.
