- Ashley Whiteside
Ashley is a healer and lover by nature. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker currently working in day treatment with youth in a school setting who have mental health and developmental disabilities. Ashley has experience working with youth, adolescents, substance abuse/recovery, foster care, developmental disabilities, aging, small businesses/entrepreneurs and more. Ashley received her Masters of Social Work at The University at Albany, The State University of New York in May 2019. She obtained her New York State Social Work Licence in August of 2019. Ashley has experience facilitating group therapy sessions in a community mental health setting (Root3d) and at an inpatient substance abuse program. Ashley has developed a group curriculum based on developing life skills, Dual Diagnosis (Substance Abuse and Mental Health), coping skills for interdisciplinary education settings and relational healing during the holiday season. Ashley is fueled by her passion to help black and brown girls and women to achieve their dreams through education. She believes that education in any form is the gateway to creating a life that can lift families and future generations out of poverty and struggle. Ashley considers herself a “student of life” consistently learning from the world around her.
Ashley believes that choosing to heal is a radical act of self-love. Once we take the time to learn and heal ourselves and our wounds we can emerge toward collective empowerment.
- Tanisha
“A First generation American Queer Black Woman are only a few of the titles Tanisha associates with. She is also a Nurse, a Burlesque performer, Singer, and Community Theater member. This year in response to the outcry for representation and diversity in the Arts, specifically theater arts, she and a few of her friends started a committee at the Schenectady Light Opera Company in Schenectady, NY to invite BIPOC and other marginalized groups to express themselves in a safe space.”
- Tele Rabii
My name is Tele Rabii. I am 25 years old and am a person in recovery. For me, that means that it has
been 5 years without using alcohol and other drugs and maintaining my recovery for mental health as well. I currently work as a clinician at Ellis PROS. I co-facilitate the Peer Empowerment Group of the
Capital Region, YVM-Schenectady, and Friends of Recovery-Schenectady. I am on the board of New
Choices Recovery Center. I went to school to receive my degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. I am a recovery advocate and activist and work to assist people with achieving their recovery goals, whatever that may look like for them.
- Jammella Anderson
Yoga teacher, Doula & Activist
As a Yoga Teacher and Doula, I strive to remind people that they are whole not a piece, or a part. "I grew up in Upstate New York, spending most of my time with friends and family in the Adirondacks. Although I had a great childhood, I couldn’t help but feel mostly out of place - like I didn’t belong. As I grew up, I knew in my heart of hearts that I wanted to help people who felt similar to me. I have always had a passion for helping people - more specifically helping people be more comfortable with themselves and feeling more “at home” in their own body. I am trauma informed yoga teacher, doula and advocate and I am learning everyday that the path of healing is not linear or a one-size fits all model. I am here to serve and support you in whatever ways I can."
Jammella is a 500hr Registered Yoga Teacher and soon-to be Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher in Albany, NY. Jammella began her yoga practice in 2012 and was immediately hooked. She began to see through the growth of her spiritual and physical health how trans-formative yoga is and how it is an integral part of the human experience. The deeper she dove into the yoga the more she learned – and the less she felt she knew. After encouragement from her teachers, she began her YTT and things have been different ever since.
