Our mission: make it easier to access mental, emotional and social support services for people of all ages.
We are mental health advocates that break down barriers of mental health, build upon peers’ sense of belonging, and make resources accessible for everyone by hosting peer support groups, educational programs and community events.
Noteworthy Resources of Albany, Inc. (NWR) is a grassroots 501c3 nonprofit organization formed in 2017. We assure that resources are accessible for those in need, which help foster growth and empowerment in the community. We deliver inclusive and intergenerational programs and services throughout the Capital Region.
“We are a small organization that is continuously evolving to support the mental, emotional and social needs of Capital Region of NY so we can make a big impact!” - Tatiana Benack, Founder
Based on our annual Community Needs Assessment Survey, we identify what services participants are in need of and we do our best to create programs around that develop assistance to better support them. For example, in 2020 we identified that the community was struggling mentally and socially with the effects of COVID-19, therefore we developed a skateboarding program. The skateboarding program, Skate Albany, promoted empowerment, life skills, and building upon one’s sense of belonging and self-esteem with skateboarding, which was an outdoor activity, also increased social skills and development of new hobbies for participants. We then identified that during the winter and wet/cold seasons depression was higher than in the summer times within the skateboarding community due to the lack of a safe space to skateboard indoors. We fundraised to build an indoor skatepark to support our community even more and our goal of the Skate Albany program was accomplished!
